Attorney John-Austin Diamond has numerous years of experience litigating cases on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, Longshore and Defense Base Act insurance carriers, third-party adjusters, and injured workers around the globe. This unique perspective allows him to better advocate on his clients’ behalf. Recently, Mr. Diamond was named 10 Best Workers Compensation Attorneys by the AILC, and Top Injured Workers’ Attorney by The Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group for his contributions to the Longshore and Defense Base Act communities. Additionally, John-Austin was asked to lecture at the 2017 WCI Annual Workers' Compensation Educational Conference on emerging issues concerning Defense Base Act litigation. 

During his practice, John-Austin has obtained extensive experience in litigating claims brought under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Defense Base Act, the Jones Act, the War Hazards Compensation Act, the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act, Foreign Voluntary coverage, Occupational Accident Insurance, and various state workers’ compensation frameworks.  He has recovered tens of millions of dollars in reimbursement under the War Hazards Compensation Act, and trained insurance personnel on effective recovery strategies.

John-Austin has gained broad experience in handling claims brought under the New York State Workers’ Compensation Law and previously advised insurance companies, employers and third-party adjusters on effective claim management practices. In addition, he has successfully litigated matters before the NYSWCB district offices in Brooklyn, Harlem, Staten Island, Queens, Hempstead, Long Island, Peekskill, Newburgh, Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester, and Albany.

John-Austin Diamond is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and The United States Supreme Court after being duly sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts. He graduated from Syracuse University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science, and received his Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in 2009. Additionally, John-Austin is an accredited attorney for the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims for veterans’ benefits before the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. He is an active member of the New York State Bar Association’s Tort, Insurance and Compensation Law Division, the DOL - Joint Bar Association, New York County Lawyers' Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of The Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group. In addition, John-Austin has published many articles about a multitude of Defense Base Act issues, and was selected to be published by his peers in the field of constitutional law. In 2017, John-Austin founded The Private Patriots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation aimed at helping injured military and defense contractors worldwide. 

In 2021, Mr. Diamond was nominated and elected to be a member of the Board of Directors of the DOL-Joint Bar Association. The DOL – Joint Bar Association, Inc. is a national non- profit membership organization committed to improving the process in claims arising under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Labor. The DOL-Joint Bar’s membership includes both Claimant’s attorneys and defense attorneys.

John-Austin is an avid salt water fisherman targeting Striped Bass from the surf in Long Beach Island, NJ, and Bluefin Tuna in the offshore canyons of the Atlantic Ocean. He was born to a loving family in Amsterdam, NY before moving to New York City with the aim of practicing law to help people.
